EO Veracity project team at GEO Symposium
20 May 2026
Next week, EO Veracity team member Guy Schumann, of RSS-Hydro, will be attending the 2026 GEO Symposium and GEO-21 Plenary in Geneva from 26th to 28th May. The Symposium's theme of 'Investing in Earth Intelligence for a Resilient Future' is closely aligned to our project, which is investigating how EO data could be interfered with, how to counter this interference, and how to guarantee the veracity, or truthfulness and accuracy, of the information provided to ensure we can use EO data with confidence, now and in the future. Make sure to find Guy to pick up the latest EO Veracity flyer and hear all about our exciting and important project.
Building Trust in Satellite Data: EO Veracity Inspires at Geospatial World Forum
8 May 2026
The EO Veracity project was represented at the Geospatial World Forum in Amsterdam last week, hosted at the ESA booth alongside other companies and initiatives. The event provided an opportunity to present our project within an ESA collaborative context and engage with a variety of stakeholders.
Discussions with visitors at the ESA booth and during the exhibition introduced EO Veracity's goals and objectives. Several stakeholders expressed interest in the project and requested to stay informed about its progress.
On 30 April, Frédéric Tourret delivered a presentation on EO Veracity as part of the Space2Earth seminar. The seminar featured a broad range of topics, including sensors, radar technologies, real-time optical satellite communications, and geospatial addressing systems, offering a broader perspective on the project's role in the geospatial landscape.
ESA DAP working group session to include EO Veracity
30 April 2026
The European Space Agency (ESA) Data Access and Preservation (DAP) working group, a sub group of the Committee on Earth Observation Satellites (CEOS) Working Group on Information Systems and Services (WGISS), has invited the EO Veracity project to present as part of their twice-annual meeting. Talking in the session addressing Data and Associated Information Preservation and Standardisation on the 7th of May, Amanda Hall and Lisa Haskell from Telespazio UK will discuss the importance of EO data veracity and how it ties into Data Provenance (Integrity and Traceability) and Context, a new topic for the DAP working group.
EO Veracity attending Geospatial World Forum 2026
15 April 2026
In two weeks time the EO Veracity project will attend the Geospatial World Forum 2026 in Amsterdam from 29th April to 1st May. You will find our colleagues Frederic Tourret and Simo Fanko, from FACTiven, at the European Space Agency booth in the Expo Tech Zone throughout the event. They will be there to talk with attendees on EO data veracity, summarising the findings related to Objective 1 of the project, and the project's progress investigating Objective 2. More on the project objectives can be found here. An update to the project flyer has also been made, and will be shared at the event.
You will also see Frederic at the Space2Earth seminar on the 30th of April, where he is a speaker in Session 3: Real-World Impact of Space & Geospatial Technologies. Frederic will be talking about Advancing Earth Observation Veracity, and the project's pioneering proof-of-concept framework for EO veracity verification. Come along to hear more.
Webinar recording available and Task 2 kicks off
16 January 2026
The recording from the first EO Veracity public webinar is now available to all.
Perhaps you have recently learnt of the EO Veracity Proof of Concept Verification project and want to know more. Maybe you weren't able to make it to the public webinar in December. Or possibly you just want to watch it again to refresh your memory. Whatever the reason, you can now watch the recording from the December 2025 public webinar by visiting our Resources page (link below).
In other news, EO Veracity Task 2 kicked off earlier this week on the 12th of January.
This task aims to fulfil objective 2 of the project: Characterise types of potential interference and the expected consequences. This task, which will run until May 2026, will research the nature of potential interferences that may affect EO data, both in general and related to the EO product chains investigated in Task 1. Find out more about these EO product chains using the link below. As part of this the team will focus on a range of threats identified from Task 1, industry trusted taxonomies, such as ISO27001, European Union Agency for Cybersecurity (ENISA), and the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Cybersecurity Framework. This research will be followed by an analysis of how to detect and counter these interferences. Stay tuned to learn more about the outcomes.
First EO Veracity Public Webinar a success!
18 December 2025
On 17 December 2025, the EO Veracity Proof of Concept Verification project held its first public webinar. This event was a great success and was attended by more than 20 stakeholders across the Earth Observation generation chain, from satellite data generators to end users. During the webinar the project was introduced, including the context of why we should verify EO data and the project objectives. A summary of the work done to date was provided before explaining what we will do now and what the project and public outcomes will be.
The finale of the project will be the production of a roadmap for EO organisations interested in protecting the veracity of the EO information chains. This roadmap will outline veracity methodologies that can protect the end-to-end EO chain and how best to implement them.
The key message of the webinar is that the project team don't want to work in isolation, but aim to meet the needs of the EO industry by engaging with EO organisations and getting your feedback. Together we can produce a roadmap that is thorough and practical to implement.
Telespazio UK leading new ESA project on Earth Observation Veracity
28 October 2025
Telespazio UK, a subsidiary of Telespazio (a 67/33% joint venture between Leonardo and Thales) is pleased to announce that it has been awarded the contract to lead the European Space Agency (ESA)-funded project – Earth Observation (EO) Veracity Proof of Concept (PoC) Verification.
This project, which kicked off in September 2025 and runs for 18 months, will investigate how EO data can be interfered with, how to counter this interference, and how to guarantee the truthfulness and accuracy of the information provided.
